The Grantley Stable Neonatal Unit at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital is the tertiary referral neonatal centre for central Queensland, Brisbane to Rockhampton, specialising in the management of premature and sick babies.
Admissions come mainly from this area, but some are also received from southern and northern parts of Queensland, and from Northern New South Wales. A Retrieval Service assists in bringing out born babies to Brisbane, transporting approximately 200 babies per year.
Staffing is 7 full-time neonatologists, 1 visiting medical officers, 1 Nursing Director, 2 Nurse Unit Managers, 1 Nurse Manager, 2 Clinical Nurse Consultants, 1.5 full-time Nurse Educators, approximately 200 nurses (130 full-time equivalents), 15 registrars and 2 senior house officers.
The Unit manages all varieties of neonatal problems, with only babies requiring cardiac surgery being transferred out.
Visiting Hours
Parents may visit 24 hours, access may be restricted a few times in the day (ward rounds, procedures). General public may visit with parents any time

Banking
A Bank of Queensland is located on the first floor of the Ned Hanlon Building. Various ATM’s are located on ground and first floors of the Ned Hanlon Building.
Chaplaincy
Hospital chaplains of various religious faiths visit wards regularly. If you wish to arrange the services of a minister of religion please ask the ward staff. Even if you say no to a chaplain visit initially, you can still ask to see a chaplain if your situation changes.
