The Neonatal / Paediatrics Intensive Care Unit is the only level 3 nursery in Tasmania that provides intensive care for pre-term babies and children up to 14 years of age. All clinical services are provided except for cardiac surgery. The RHH Neonatal / Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is the state referral service; coordination and staffing for the Neonatal Emergency Transport Service (NETS).

  • 11 intensive care beds
  • 3 high dependency level 2 beds
  • 12 special care level 1 beds
Visiting Hours

Parents may visit anytime. General Public may visit with parents between 12.00pm - 1.30pm and 3.00pm - 8.00pm

Banking    

An ATM is located on the Ground floor of the Hospital near the Liverpool Street entrance foyer.        

Chaplaincy

Chaplains are available 24 hours a day. Services are held in the chapel (First Floor, C Block) each Sunday at 11am. Catholic Mass is held during the week and notification will be made over the public address system.

Hospital Kiosk - ground floor at the Liverpool Street entrance

Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays 11.30am - 8.00pm

Interpreter Services

Arrangements can be made for an interpreter if required. Please check with nursing staff on the ward.

Meals and Snacks    

Hospital Coffee Shop - ground floor at the Liverpool Street entrance.

Monday to Friday  8.45am - 8.00pm

Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays 11.30am - 8.00pm

Post Box       

Stamps can be purchased from Kiosk & Coffee Shop and and Post Box is located outside the main Liverpool Street entrance.

Public Telephones      

Public telephones are available in the lift foyer on each floor.

Patients and visitors to the RHH can access a range of car parking facilities.

Argyle Street Car Park

Operated by the Hobart City Council, the car park is open at the following times:

  • Monday to Thursday 8am –6.30pm
  • Friday 8am – 9.30pm
  • Saturday 8.30am – 5.30pm
  • Sunday 9.30am – 4.30pm

Market Place Car Park

Privately operated is open 24 hours, seven (7) days per week.

Street Parking

Managed by the Hobart City Council, metered parking spaces are available in Campbell, Liverpool, Argyle and Collins Streets.
