Community Has a Ball at the Miracle Babies Foundation Ball

Miracle Babies Foundation Sydney South West Ball was held on Saturday, 29 May 2010 at the Liverpool Catholic Club. Over 600 guests attended the event which raised over $100K, all funds raised go to the ongoing work of Miracle Babies Foundation who support families of premature and sick newborns who are cared for by a Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Special Care Nursery (SCN).

Every year in Australia, approximately 42,000 babies are born requiring the help of a NICU or SCN. Around 23,000 of these babies are born premature and up to 1000 of these babies lose their fight for life. Miracle Babies Foundation offer support to all families through a 24 hour hotline 1300 MBABIES, Hospital Visits and Specialised Support and Play Groups when the family goes home. Miracle Babies Foundation also raise funds for the Units that care for these precious babies.

Special Guest Liverpool City Mayor Wendy Waller was moved by the event saying "The evening was a great success, the commitment of this group of mums can't be ignored, they have taken something which was very much a local and personal response to having a premature baby and made it into a national response and a national organisation. This issue affects many families and it's a wonderful and humbling experience seeing the support given and the commitment displayed by these local women and their families - we are truly blessed."

Miracle Babies Foundation Chairman, Mr Morris Iemma and Local MP Dr Andrew McDonald made inspirational speeches together with Mrs Melinda Cruz, Founder and CEO.

Ambassadors Vic Lorusso and Kellie Connolly were Emcee for the night which was busy with a live and silent auction, raffles and lucky door prizes.

Event Partners ADM Financial Planners Pty Limited and AMP Foundation matched fundraising efforts up to $10,000. Haycom Staging were also happy to support the night.

Guests were treated to a special treat by Doc Neeson of the legendary rock band 'The Angels' who rocked the house and also Mark Gable of 'The Choirboys'. Entertainment also included 'InterStella' who always showcase a new and exciting performance.
