Helping families - new NurtureGroup for Perth
A joint venture between Miracle Babies Foundation and local families has seen the establishment of the first NurtureGroup in Western Australia - a free fortnightly play and support group for children aged 0-6.
Miracle Babies Foundation NurtureGroup will hold its inaugural meeting on Friday, 11 February, and will offer support to families and carers whose babies were admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Units or Special Care Nurseries, either through prematurity, birth complications or congenital abnormalities.
NurtureGroup is geared specifically to assist the needs of premature babies and is equipped with toys and activities recommended by therapists to maximise a child’s growing physical development.
Naomi Rohr, National NurtureGroup Manager, said NurtureGroup offers unique support to families and carers and a forum to share similar experiences, exchange ideas on parenting and build support networks.
Melinda Cruz, CEO of MBF said this is the seventh NurtureGroup established by MBF. ”Miracle Babies Foundation was founded by a group of mothers of premature babies who work tirelessly and on a voluntary basis. We are very pleased to be able to offer this support through NurtureGroup in Western Australia and look forward to the group’s ongoing success, “she said.
NurtureGroup will hold its inaugural meeting on Friday, 11 February from 10.00am to 12.00pm at Subi Church, 260 Bagot Road, Subiaco. All interested families and carers can RSVP by Wednesday, 8 February to Claire Greer: 0401 227 011 or Naomi Rohr, National NurtureGroup Manager: 0413 069 610.
