Local Funding Helps Our Littlest Battlers
Thanks to the CDSE program and funding from Liverpool Catholic Club Miracle Babies Foundation has been able to purchase two Drager Caleo state of the art humidicribs for Liverpool Hospital’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit.
President of Liverpool Catholic Club , Tony Atkins, said “Liverpool Catholic Club are pleased to donate towards this worthy cause and are excited that the donation has resulted in the purchase of these humidicribs. The work Miracle Babies have done, and continue to do, is rewarding to all the community.”
Liverpool Hospital Director of Newborn Care, Robert Guaran said the humidicribs provided a warm, moist environment essential to the health of premature babies.
“These small babies would normally have had many more months growing and developing in the womb and if exposed to even a small amount of cold, they use up oxygen and nutrition essential for growth,” Dr Guaran said.
“These modern humidicribs replicate the warming environment of the womb allowing the baby to grow.
“These humidicribs are a welcome addition that will complement and enhance existing services.
“We can tilt and adjust the height of the mattress, weigh the baby and take x-rays all without disturbing the baby inside the humidicrib.
“We are very thankful to Miracle Babies for their continued support of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit and the families with babies we care for,” he said.
Miracle Babies Foundation is a national organisation that supports premature and sick newborns, their families and the hospitals that care for them.
“Many families we support have premature and sick babies that have been cared for by Liverpool Hospitals NICU. It is a privilege and honour to be able to work together to achieve these amazing outcomes. We thank the Liverpool Catholic Club for their continued support.” Melinda Cruz, Miracle Babies Foundation CEO said.
