McDonald's Give Miracle Babies a Helping Hand
McDonald's restaurants across Sydney South West participated in a Helping Hands promotion from 1 June to 21 June 2009. With 28 stores selling the Helping Hands, the result has been amazing. This is the third year McDonald's have run the Helping Hands campaign with the best ever results of $24,489.00.
These funds will purchase a cooling machine to help reduce body temperature and reduce occurrences of strokes, fevers and brain bleeds in premature and sick newborns at Liverpool Hospitals NICU and ultimately increase their chance of survival.
"The cooling machine will provide a vital piece of equipment in the NICU ward that will potentially help save premature babies' lives." Miracle Babies President Melinda Cruz said. "Premature babies and sick newborns are so delicate and fragile, it is important we utilize every resource and piece of equipment we can to help these babies get well."
"Helping Hands is an easy way to assist the local Hospital to provide support to families who have been affected with the birth of a premature or ill baby." Allan Spinks said, local McDonald's Licensee.
The top 5 stores for selling most Helping Hands in 2009 were:
- Punchbowl
- Moorebank
- Padstow
- Roselands
- iverpool Mega Centre
A further amount of $3,890.00 was also raised from humidicrib donations at McDonald's stores during the Helping Hands Fundraiser which brought the grand total raised to $28,379.00
Miracle Babies are so excited and thankful for the support from the local McDonald's Licensees, managers and crew members. It is the support of you and the local community that allows us to continue to provide much needed services and equipment Liverpool Hospital's NICU with the latest technology.
Thank you to the local community for getting behind the fundraiser and making it such a successful result.
