Meet Our Melbourne NurtureGroup Coordinators

We are excited to introduce our new South East Melbourne Coordinators Georgie and Carly. We wish to thank them for sharing their stories, and also for their commitment, time and energy to supporting other families of premature and sick newborns.
Georgie (and Chloe & Lola)

Hi my name is Georgie and I am the proud Mother of two beautiful little girls, Chloe Rose, who is just under three and Lola May, who is one this week. We started our Miracle Babies journey over three years ago when I was 28 weeks pregnant with Chloe. I became very ill in my last stage of pregnancy and was in and out of hospital until Chloe was born at 33 weeks. We were very lucky when Chloe was born and only spent a total of three weeks in the Special Care Nursery at St John of God hospital in Geelong.

For our second pregnancy we would not be so lucky. It was at 20 weeks that my waters broke and went into labour. We delivered a little baby boy, our James, who was just too little to survive. It was such a sad day that we will never forget.

But we would become proud parents again with our third child, Lola, who will be one this Friday. Lola was born at 31 weeks and spent a total of five weeks in both the NICU & SCN at the Royal Women’s Hospital and Frances Perry House. Apart from a few early problems Lola is a healthy and happy little girl.

It was during this time that I heard about the amazing work of the Miracle Babies Foundation and wanted to become involved in helping spread the word in Melbourne. We are thrilled to be a part of such a passionate Foundation and really look forward to helping other families in Melbourne and supporting our local NutureGroup.
We look forward to meeting other Parents and Miracle Babies at our first Nuture Group coming soon.

Carly (and Finley)

Hi, my name is Carly and my little miracles name is Finley.

Finley decided in late September 2010 that he was ready to enter the world just over 12 weeks early. There no reason behind it, I believe that he is just like him mum and impatient. I was give 2 lots of steroid injections to mature his lungs and 3 days later he joined us weighing 1.48kg. We were living in London at the time and the care he was given over the next 7 weeks was amazing, he spent a few hours being ventilated and then for 18 days was only on a CPAP. We had a slight step back 4 days after he came home when he caught Bronchiolotis which meant a short stay in the PICU.

We arrived back in Australia in February and within my first week back saw a feature about Miracle Babies on Kerri-Anne. I had not had much support whilst in London and knew that I wanted to be involved and meet other families that had been through similar experiences. I am extremely happy to have helped organise Melbourne's first NutureGroup and can't wait to meet other families and their little miracles.
