New NurtureGroup for the Illawarra
Miracle Babies Foundation NurtureProgram delivers play and support groups for babies and children 0-5 years that required care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN).
Miracle Babies Foundation responded to the need of Illawarra families and proudly opened an Illawarra NurtureGroup in Wollongong on Monday, 10th May 2010.
The right support at the right time - a desperate need. Wollongong parents Jenny and Steve's son Jude, was born 5 weeks early and know too well the struggles faced with raising a premature baby. "Having a premature baby is such an emotional journey and being able to meet other families who understand the challenges you have dealt with, and still face today, is extremely valuable and a very special support" Jenny said.
The Illawarra NurtureGroup also has maternal and child health professionals from South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service in attendance. These Allied Health and Nursing professionals attend NurtureGroups to offer families assistance, expert advice and informal assessments of the children's development.
Educational Experience showed their support by donating a wonderful selection of toys and resources. Marissa Wilson from Educational Experience said "It is wonderful to be able to help in a small way, such a wonderful organisation as Miracle Babies Foundation as they spread their special form of love and support in our area. Educational Experience is about enriching the learning experiences of children and we are proud to be involved with these babies, children and their families."
"The generosity of the local community has been tremendous" Melinda Cruz, CEO stated with the Illawarra NurtureGroup receiving a generous $500 donation from Dapto Women's Bowling Club - Marshall Street.
