Poker Fans Declare Their Hands
Australian Poker League (APL), South West Region's Dave Newham and Tracy Richardson put on a spectacular night of poker donating all proceeds to Miracle Babies. Almost $14,000 was raised on the night, helping Miracle Babies with their work in supporting families of premature and sick newborns and assisting Liverpool Public Hospital's Newborn Intensive Care Unit.
Held at Club Marconi who kindly donated the room for the event, on Friday, 22 February 2008, over 220 poker enthusiasts were keen and ready to be named the first APL Miracle Babies Poker Champion.
Melinda Cruz, Founder and President of Miracle Babies said "It was such a fun night filled with special guests and wonderful prizes. An awesome time was had by all and it was great to see a lot of first time poker players. Miracle Babies would like to thank Dave and the APL for all their support and enthusiasm in organising such a memorable event."
APL's, Dave Newham is happy to support such a wonderful and worthwhile charity; he said "After meeting the inspirational mothers from Miracle Babies at their annual golf day, I recognised the opportunity to raise some funds through the APL South West poker community. It was a very emotional night to see the local community and the APL family 'declare their hand' in support of Miracle Babies. I am already looking forward to the next poker night."
