Aubrey's Story, 34 Weeks

Miracle Mum, Jessica shares Aubrey's story.

"My pregnancy was really easy and I had no issues up until the night my waters broke.

It was my first pregnancy and I missed out on so much because of the pandemic; a lot of missed appointments and baby classes being cancelled.

At 11:30pm on the 3rd of September I was laying in bed and something didn’t feel quiet right. I got out of bed and all of a sudden my waters broke. Being so early and also clueless I thought there was no way this was happening now. I woke my partner up and called my mum and we all thought I should just go to the hospital to get checked - to be sure everything was okay.

We got to the hospital and it was confirmed my waters had broken the nurses gave me steroids to stop the contractions but within an hour of my waters breaking, the contractions where in full swing. The doctors and nurses told us that being 34 weeks early things might not go to plan and I might not get to hold my baby straight away.

Five hours after my waters broke Aubrey was born. I got to hold her for ten minutes before they took her to the NICU. She was so perfect! We spent just over two weeks in hospital with a few scares due to her breathing.

Aubrey is now six months and thriving. We are so grateful for the nurses at Lismore Base Hospital for doing such an amazing job taking care of her."
