We need your help to make a real difference.

Dear ##firstname##,

Miracle Babies continues to advocate for families with a premature or sick baby. Our Call to Change to the Australian Government to provide additional leave as part of the Paid Parental Leave scheme for families who have had a baby born requiring specialised care in a neonatal unit beyond 2 weeks needs your help.

Our petition closes for signatures in just 24 hours. Can you help make a difference?

Miracle Babies Foundation has proposed that primary carers receive one week of additional Parental Leave Pay for every week a baby is in hospital beyond two weeks, with a maximum of 14 weeks extra pay.

For fathers and partners we recommend an additional two weeks of extra Dad and Partner Pay.

This change will help further support families with a premature or sick baby and decrease the financial burden to be able to spend this important time at home with their baby once finally discharged. Hear from the families themselves who have been negatively impacted by the current legislation. Read more here.

You might not have had a premature baby and may never need this additional support, but what if your children or grandchildren do?

Every year in Australia more than 48,000 babies require the help of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN) and sadly, up to one thousand will lose their fight for survival. Yet, not all parents are given the same opportunity to support their baby in hospital.

We're advocating for families who experience extended stays in hospital to come home with the same leave entitlements as everyone else does.
