23 Weeks and younger



Annabelle was born at 1.11am on Saturday 8th of December 2012 at 23 weeks and 2 days, five days short of the being able to be resuscitated.  Annabelle weighed only 598 grams and measured 21cm in length. She was perfect.

On Thursday August 23rd 2013 I was 23 weeks and 2 days pregnant with identical twin girls. At 6pm I began having bad back pains. These pain persisted for around one hour and then I told my partner that we needed to get it checked out.

I had been having Braxton Hicks all throughout my first pregnancy. I was only 23 weeks along when they were particularly bad one day. My husband kept telling me to go to the hospital and get checked but I thought I was just overreacting.

On the 18th of February 2010 I was 23 weeks and 5 days. I woke up fine but during the morning my little girl started kicking nonstop, so I called up the midwives and they asked if I could drive to the hospital. I was speeding down the freeway hoping a police car would pull me over so they could drive faster but no luck.

Charlene was born at 23 weeks + 1 day in a bush hospital in Victoria, August 11, 2010. Charlene is my second child born premature; my eldest son who is now 7 years old was born at 27 weeks at the same hospital I delivered Charlene.

On the 11th of March 2000 I began experiencing contractions at 23 weeks and 4 days and was very upset as we had lost our first baby at 22 weeks. I rushed to our local hospital and was immediately put on a drip to try and stop the labour and given my first steroid injection and transported to the John Hunter Hospital NICU.

On the 6th March 2009 my son, Levi, was born at 23 weeks 5 days weighing 580g. My waters had broken at 21 weeks and 4 days and I had "hung on" for two weeks with cautious hope that maybe this little baby boy could survive.
