Nurture E Information Hub
We all use social skills every day to mix with others, to communicate and socialise. These skills involve both verbal and nonverbal communication, facial expressions, hand gestures and body language. Teenagers with good social skills know how to behave appropriately in social situations and understand the ‘rules’ when communicating with others. Some teenagers have difficulty fitting in within their environment, following rules, getting along with others and being social. Teenagers who were born premature have a greater risk of inappropriately managing their feelings and difficulty coping in social situations. This may lead to the inability to stay calm, tantrums, getting upset and pushing the limits which may cause low self esteem and difficulties with peers and friends.
