Archie's Story, 27 Weeks

Miracle Mum, Samara shares Archie's story.

"My son Archie was born at 27 weeks due to placenta abruption. I was in hospital multiple times for bleeding and cramping; and I would always get told everything was okay!

One week on a Monday, I went in for reduced moment once again and just like the other times got told everything was okay! However, I ended up going into labour that Friday and had my son that Sunday on the 8th of November 2020!

NICU and Special Care life was hard! In hospital for three months, on CPAP for roughly 40 days. Archie contracted NEC but lucky enough they caught it early! He had Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) but only a mild case at the time while in special care.

Finally, after months in the hospital we took him home for a couple of weeks, but he had to go back in as his eyes got worse within a week and he needed surgery to save them. So he went through laser eye surgery and injections.

As of today, at 10 months old, Archie is absolutely thriving with not one single health condition; his eyes are completely perfect. I am told every time I go to the hospital for his regular check ups how extremely lucky Archie and I are to escape with not one issue. Beyond blessed."
