Daisee, 25 Weeks

Miracle mum Kayla shares Daisee’s story:

Our journey into parenthood didn’t begin as we imagined.

Our daughter Daisee was born at just 25 weeks, after a pregnancy filled with complications. I went into natural labour and progressed to 8cm before discovering she was footling breech. I was quickly put under for an emergency caesarean, and Daisee entered the world far too soon tiny, fragile, and fighting from her very first breath.

She spent 96 days in hospital, and those days were some of the hardest and longest of our lives. We faced countless challenges and setbacks, but also moments of incredible strength and hope. Every day we travelled over an hour, sometimes multiple times, to be by her side bringing milk, sitting by her cot, and celebrating every little milestone. The doctors and nurses became like family to us, supporting us through every high and low.

Eighteen months later, we found ourselves on another premature journey when our son Theo was born at 33 weeks. This time my waters broke early, and once again I was taken in for an emergency caesarean.

Theo spent 20 days in the hospital, and while it was a shorter stay, it brought back all the emotions and memories of our first NICU experience. Watching both of our babies fight so bravely has changed us forever.

We’ll be sharing both Daisee and Theo’s stories to raise awareness, offer hope, and honour the incredible work of the medical teams who care for premature babies and their families every day. 💜

Today, Daisee is almost two years old — chatting non-stop, running everywhere, and bringing so much joy to everyone around her. She’s thriving in every way, and it’s amazing to see how far she’s come from those tiny days in the NICU.
