Spencer brings deeply personal lived experience to his role as a Consumer Representative and a parent representative on our Parent & Patient Advisory Group. His twin boys, Fletcher and Tommy, were born at 26 weeks in June 2021 at Royal North Shore Hospital. Tragically, Tommy passed away just under three weeks later. Fletcher spent 12 weeks across the neonatal units facing a number of early challenges and is now a happy, healthy and cheeky toddler.
Spencer's eldest son, Max was born at 35 weeks and spent 10 days in SCU.
Through this journey, Spencer developed a strong understanding of the realities families face in neonatal care and the importance of compassionate, family-centred support. He is particularly passionate about ensuring fathers’ and non-birthing parents' voices and experiences, as well as those of grieving parents, are represented in research, services and advocacy.
Alongside his lived experience, Spencer brings skills in operations, communication and governance, with a long history of volunteering and community involvement.
