Casey, 30 Weeks

Miracle mum Tamika shares Casey's story:

We can’t thank the staff at Mater enough for keeping our baby safe! I went for a growth scan, and we discovered Casey wasn’t growing, my placenta wasn’t working and there was reverse, absent or no blood flow in his cord. They picked up he had a double bubble (Duodenal Atresia) fast-forward to the following week I was transferred to the Mater, they then picked up he also had a cleft lip. In this moment there were SO MANY emotions, questions, unknown answers, daily scans, monitoring, admissions and ALOT of testing between myself, Casey and Chris! Casey came back with 17Q12 duplication. We spoke with many doctors, NICU staff, nurses and surgeons!
We always knew in our heart no matter what we would support and love our babies, and we would face everything together as a family.
Most don’t know, but Casey was also a twin and we miscarried around 6–7 weeks. We thank those above for watching and looking after our little baby! We have been on such a roller coaster but we are very thankful for many people around us who have helped us through some of the toughest things anyone could ever go through!
He has faced many things in his short time earth side, and he is kicking so many goals.
His last weight before coming home was 2452g, head is 32cm and length 40cm! Casey has undergone surgery to repair his Duodenal Atresia, and it is now in the shape of a diamond 💎
He is our little NICU warrior
We still have a long road ahead before coming home, so please respect our little family!
We are all so in love with him, especially his big sister 🥰🤍

Casey is now nearly 7kg and loves his food and a good chat, he’s such a happy baby, loves water and been outside
