Miracle Babies Foundation and the Australian College of Neonatal Nurses are pleased to launch the Miracle Babies Foundation Marlene Dunn Scholarship in 2025.

This special scholarship will provide ACNN members the opportunity to apply for the Scholarship which will provide $10,000 funding toward a research or quality improvement project.

“The Australian College of Neonatal Nurses is delighted to partner with the Miracle Babies Foundation through the Marlene Dunn Scholarship. This generous support will empower neonatal nurses to enhance family-centered care and deliver lasting, meaningful improvements for the families we care for today and in the future.”  ACNN

Applications will be open in early 2026 and the recipients will be announced at the COINN conference in Darwin in 2026.  ACNN will compile a judging panel as part of the Scholarship governance and will be the responsible party for selecting the recipient with the opportunity for x 1 $10,000 or x 2 $5,000 research or quality improvement projects by an ACNN member each year for the term of the Scholarship.

“Miracle Babies Foundation is honoured to be able to partner with ACNN on this Scholarship which will have a great impact on our babies and families.  Many parents feel such a special bond with the neonatal nurses that care for their baby.  Being able to support education and improving quality of work with this Scholarship is something Marlene and her family are very proud of.”  Kylie Pussell, CEO

Marlene's contribution to Miracle Babies Foundation will support a purposeful project in her memory. Through this initiative, her kindness and desire to make a difference will continue to live on helping families and babies.

"Marlene was a shy, quiet lady. Although she didn’t have any children of her own she always loved babies. She made her own physical contribution by knitting little booties and Care Bears and donating them to the Mater hospital. Marlene will be very pleased that she was able to leave an ongoing legacy that will assist with the care and improvement of outcomes for our most vulnerable babies." - Family member of Marlene Dunn

We are deeply grateful to Marlene Dunn for her incredible legacy, which continues to provide support to babies and their families.
